What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a small screw made of a biocompatible material that replaces the natural tooth root. It is anchored in the jawbone and, once it has healed, supports the visible restoration – a crown, a bridge or a denture. This makes it possible to close single gaps, replace several teeth or considerably improve the hold of a denture.
Unlike a conventional bridge, healthy neighbouring teeth do not have to be ground down. Because the implant replaces the tooth root, the bone continues to be loaded – this counteracts bone loss and prevents the neighbouring teeth from tipping into the gap. The result feels and looks like a natural tooth.

Costs & cost plan
The cost depends on the findings and the restoration – for example the number of implants and the type of prosthetic. Implants are usually a private service; for the restoration, contributions from the statutory health insurance may be possible. You receive a transparent treatment and cost plan in advance – with no hidden costs.
Frequently asked questions
Does placement hurt?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia and is usually low in pain. Many patients find it less stressful than expected. After treatment there may be slight swelling, which can be relieved well. On request we discuss additional options to help you relax.
How long does healing take?
That depends on the individual situation and the jawbone. It usually takes a few weeks to a few months until the implant has bonded firmly with the bone. We agree the likely timeline together after the diagnostics.
How long do implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last many years and often a lifetime. Healthy gums, careful care and avoiding heavy smoking are decisive. Naturally, there can be no guarantee of a specific lifespan.
Is everyone suitable for implants?
A lot is possible, but not everything suits every situation. Sufficient bone volume and healthy gums are important. If there is not enough bone, it can often be prepared or built up. Whether implants make sense for you is something we clarify with 3D diagnostics during the consultation appointment.
How do I care for implants?
Essentially like your own teeth: thorough brushing, daily cleaning of the spaces between the teeth and regular check-up and cleaning appointments at the practice. This keeps the implant and the surrounding gums healthy and the result stable for a long time.
